Protesting the police murder of George Floyd, Esquire, May 2020
Peaceful protests turned violent after days of inaction by Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd died on Memorial Day when Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, ignoring George Floyd's pleas that he couldn't breathe. Protesters destroyed businesses and set buildings on fire as rioting on Friday, May 29th followed the burning of the MPD's third precinct building the night before.
